The Homeland Security Department says there is a constant threat of malware on imported electronic devices sold in the U.S, Information Week reports.

Greg Schaffer, the acting deputy undersecretary for the National Protection and Programs Directorate at DHS, said in the article that it’s is one of the most complicated and difficult challenges they have.

Schaffer also said there are a number of existing federal efforts under way to tackle the problem.

Information Week reports DHS and DoD are working with the private sector to improve monitoring of the electronics supply chain.
