USAID works around FISMA to use iPads

The U.S. Agency for International Development says it uses waivers in order to allow more workers to use iPads. USAID’s Chief Information Officer Jerry Horton tells a cloud computing forum at NIST that not all USAID networked devices are formally certified under the Federal Information Security Management Act. FierceGovernmentIT.com reports, Horton says his agency is different from other branches like DoD or the State department which require high-risk cyber security and don’t allow iPad use.
