Conformity assessment is “determining if people, products and services meet requirements,” said Gordon Gillerman, the director of standards services for the National Institute of Standards and Technology.

NIST is holding a free workshop on April 11 in Gaithersburg, Md., Gillerman told The Federal Drive with Tom Temin and Emily Kopp.

One example of conformity assessment is the Energy Star program, which identifies o energy efficient appliances.

Gillerman said the workshop will share best practices for doing conformity assessments.
