A new piece of legislation would help ensure a smoother transition between presidential administrations. The bill would put a senior-level, White House-led interagency transition council in place at least six months before Election Day to help with the move. Sen. Ron Johnson (R-Wis.) is the chairman of the Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee. He’s also one of the bill’s two sponsors, along with Sen. Tom Carper (D-Del.). Johnson joined Tom Temin on the Federal Drive to explain how he perceives the transition process today.
