  • Our government isn't designed to keep secrets

We can't protect state secrets, what makes you think we can protect something as ordinary as personnel data? We have over 1 million active duty military and well over that many veterans. The VA has some of the most outdated computer systems in the government. Tens of thousands of people have access to some of those files, many of them not paid very well and few even getting the token background checks of a Snowden or Manning. Most don't have a clue how their computers work or what to do to protect them other than the 30 page PowerPoint training they have to take every year.
