  • Outsource versus insource cost and effectiveness?
    Honest Broker
Is outsourcing engineering, research, maintenance, medical, law enforcement, security, accounting, acquisition, and intelligence collection and analysis services really save money? Would not experienced Govt people making decisions be better than relying on for profit and company loyal contract personnel? How about going back to lead Govt personnel having a credit card to purchase small items under $2500 and limit annual total to $100K, and then prosecute abusers? POGO.ORG released a report titled Bad Business in Sept 2011 pointing out contract labor costs 2 to 5 times more than full costs for Govt employees including benefits. Contractors charge 15 to 30 percent for purchasing material on their credit cards. Businesses use their own employees for core jobs, why not the Govt? Politicians know where to make the Govt efficient, but they and their cronies cannot make fists full of money so wait on any real meaningful changes.
