  • Union President now defending Management?
    contrarian
Did anyone else see NTEU President Kelley defending ALL IRS employees, as if management and front-line employees are the same? For years the union has complained about uselessness of surveys and bad managers, but now all the sudden there's no differentiation between the two? Hmmmmm, ironic that Lois will throw the Cinci employees under the bus, but NTEU won't do the reverse.

  • Kelly defense
    Moderate
Of course you do not say what this defense was about. Maybe she was defending IRS employees about the alleged discrimination against rightist political parties which want to be tax free. Of course you and your friends bring up "left wing" entities which are not political to defend your position. More nonsense. I was unaware that Lois Lerner threw anyone under the bus. I thought she was famous for not giving in to the clowns in Congress who label their jokes as an investigation when it is really pure garbage. I hope she wins her case against the IRS and gets her job back. We need someone with backbone to defend us against the politicians.

  • Dear Senator Grassley:

I understand you don't like govt emp bonuses. Do you pay your staffers bonuses? Are they any more important than other govt emps? Are you against Wall STreet, CEO or athlete bonuses? How do you expect govt to function properly given the current Furloughs and horrible employee treatment?

  • Money to run the government
    Moderate
You made good points regarding the furloughs. Congress must allocate enough funds to run the government. However, given the choice between bonuses and more furloughs v less furloughs and no bonuses I think we should have less furloughs. I am also prejudiced as I am not, to the best of my knowledge, getting a bonus

  • I assume you are

... referring to the IRS bonuses. "The Internal Revenue Service is about to pay $70 million in employee bonuses despite an Obama administration directive to cancel discretionary bonuses because of automatic spending cuts enacted this year, according to a GOP senator. Sen. Chuck Grassley of Iowa says his office has learned that the IRS is executing an agreement with the employees' union on Wednesday to pay the bonuses. Grassley says the bonuses should be canceled under an April directive from the White House budget office." http://apnews.myway.com/article/20130619/DA70MJC00.html Wouldn't this be better spent reducing the number of furlough days. I'm not against bonuses, when the funds are available. However, spending to placate the NTEU rather than keeping the workforce at their desks strikes me as inefficient and unfair.

I have been arguing against the awards for the reason you state. If there is money, reduce the number of furlough days. Please note though, not everyone sits at their desks. Many of us do essential official travel for our jobs.

  • No laughing matter

To make fun of this ridiculous political stunt that only benefits overpaid contractors like the traitor who made $125K with only a GED is an outrage. And the beatings will continue because the Fed workforce is weak as evidenced by the lack of willingness to fight back.
