Well, at least we can rest assured that Lois Lerner won't be logging on today. Of course, being placed on admin leave, she shouldn't have been logging on at all the last couple of weeks. But I guess some people don't need to obey the rules. http://www.bizpacreview.com/2013/06/11/lois-lerner-reportedly-accessing-irs-computer-system-while-on-leave-76178 I sincerely hope that the entire contents of her work computer's hard disk were archived immediately on her suspension.

How did she get from FEC to IRS? And why would IRS hire her? And how does taking the 5th to her bosses not get her immediately terminated? Who is she protecting, other than herself? But don't worry, there's no there there. It was just those pesky people in Cincinnati. Now leave us bigwigs alone and go play.

She took the fifth, which she has the legal right to do, against a bunch of clowns who are doing no serious investigations. They just want their day in the sun. As far as I see, the tea parties are political organizations. So, the filter to pull their applications appears to be very reasonable. The conservatives are just crying because they want to weasel word and call the tea party a social organizations. Let them drink tea

... that have claimed 501c4 status for years such as Democratic Leadership Council, American Civil Liberties Union, NAACP state units, New Democrat Network, Citizens for Strength and Security, Americans for Stabile Quality Healthcare, People for the American Way, and the Democratic Senate Campaign Committee. Meanwhile, Holly Paz, the director of the agency’s Rulings and Agreements office, reportedly was fired. DC IRS lawyer, Carter Hull, recently retired. Joseph Grant, the commissioner of the agency’s Tax-Exempt and Government Entities division and Lois Lerner’s boss, retired on June 3. He was promoted on 8 May. He was at least an SES Level II. Lerner is an SES Level III. How many feds retire less than a month after a promotion for no reason? They got caught performing actions the IG considered inappropriate (for some of the actions read illegal). The report specifically stated all donor lists were destroyed before they report was issued, as request or possession by the IRS is a felony. Good chance civil rights laws and the Hatch act were broken, as well. The civil suits will require full disclosure of all IRS documents. Its going to be a very interesting time. Old Chinese curse, "May you live in an interesting time."

You should not compare the ALCU to the tea parties. The tea parties get the republicans to run their candidates for office. The ALCU takes legal actions on cases you do not like. Big difference between legal and political. The NAACP is for the advancement of "colored" people or whatever is pc. They do not run people for office. You love to speculate. One was fired, but you have no idea as to why. And Lois Lerner was totally correct in not testiffying before those clowns who want publicity and not do an investigation. Don't remember the rest of the stuff you wrote.

The ALCU runs lawyers for public office? Are you for real? have you seen this on a ballot? Come on, you must be spoofing or something. The tea party is well known for its people running for office. The ALCU? You must be drunk or high to write that stuff.

The left-wing Organizing for America, Americans United for Change and Voto Latino are political organizations, too. Yet somehow they managed to easily get 501(c)4 status. Are you upset about that? Or are you just a political hypocrite?

  • Are you the hypocrite?
    Moderate
Are they political organizations or just entities with an agenda you do not like? Do they run people for office? Are you a hypocrite who wants to compare clearly political organizations with those you do not like? For what it is worth, I am unfamiliar with these organizations. If they are anything like the tea parties, then their 501(c)(4) status, if they have one, should be handled the same way as tea party applications.

  • Furlough reality begins to bite feds

The furlough [& potential increase in FERS pension contribution] will reinforce employees to reduce and/or eliminate their TSP contribution level to maintain net cash flow. Reducing and/or eliminating employee TSP contribution level results in employees needing to work additional years and delay their retirement. Working longer will aggravate the problem of future college graduates in finding work after graduation. Mind you when FERS was created, Social Security [SS] was supposed to be one third of one's FERS retirement. Rational people know SS is having problems and possibly be either significantly less than one third or will not be there for future FERS retirees. I may only suggest keep working and do not think much about retirement.

I guess I should have read your column this morning and saved myself some time. I stopped by the federal building in Albany to visit my former IRS co-workers and drop off my money and flyer to reserve for a colleague's retirement party, only to have the security guards inform me that the IRS was closed today. I have 2 parties to go to in the next two weeks. I am so glad I retired last June. All I hear is bad news, bad news, bad news. I just learned today of the banishment of the 59 minute excused absence, which has now been called an "award" by the IRS. Upper management has definitely got a screw loose! Let's kick morale down even lower must be the new motto!
