Rep. Camps's proposal is just another round in the continuing onslaught against federal employees. Our promised health benefits were one of the reasons many of us chose to serve the country. Unlike Camp and his cronies, who only serve for fame and wealth (IMHO). He and his cronies are intent upon keeping the focus/attention on federal employees by lies and misdirection, all the while the rich get off paying little or no taxes, despite enjoying the benefits of being US citizens and accumulating massive wealth (thanks to PAC's and corporate welfare kickbacks) (IMHO). Camp and his cronies are neither patriots or moral persons.

Did you not read my post? I am against Obamacare and in fact think Obama to be a weak and ineffective president. That our benefits/COLAS have been reduced/frozen under his presidency, is an insult to all federal employees/retirees.

  • What's good for the goose.....

I don't like Camp's proposal, but why should federal employees be exempt from the exchanges? There are plenty of private sector folks who loved their health plan prior to Obamacare, but because of the unintended consequences of Obamacare are being forced off and ultimately into exchanges. I think Camp is just being fair and frankly why folks who supported Obamacare from the beginning are surprised is stunning. This is what happens when people don't pay attention to details.

  • Ax FEHBP
    RAH
As a survivor of a Federal retiree, I am against this bill to force Feds into exchanges. This bill needs to be killed now!!! FEHBP usually runs smoothly and why should we have to be in exchanges that haven't even proven to work as they are not up and running. The Feds were promised and earned these health benefits and should not be forced to be put into Obamacare! I am also against the voucher plan too!

  • A lot of legislation to no purpose

Federal employees already work with an exchange. Every open season we go to a pool of insurance providers and we are free to choose. The federal government negotiates the rates and gets very good rates for the service. They also enforce the rules when needed. I don't see the point of forcing federal workers to be at the mercy of the states that don't want to participate in the program when they have an equivalent program they have been under for years that is working well. I also don't see the point of burdening the new state exchanges with millions of federal workers on top of all the millions that will be moving over to them next year. It just seems like another attempt to force the system to fail. I do notice the proposal doesn't include Congress in the people that have to convert to the new system.

  • The Patient Protection & Affordable Care Act as written...
    FERS Fed
... already will apply to Members of Congress. ..... Rep. Camp's bill changes the PPACA language to apply it to the President, Vice President, and federal employees as well as Members of Congress.

  • There is no reason
    bill9860
that the President, Congress and most folks on the federal payroll should have any special privliges. They should be subject to the same laws (especially Congress and the President since thy pass them) as all of us. No special laws for fed employees whether it be better or worse. The sole exeception would be the military who should be treated differently and much better.

...is not a 'special privilege'. Approximately 60% of Americans have some form of employer-sponsored coverage. Source: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Health_insurance_in_the_United_States.

    NormalDude
If you already have insurance through a private company, these laws do no apply to you. So why should they apply to Federal employees? You have no idea what you are talking about.

  • Hey, Mc, how do you know...
    FERS Fed
...it's 'crappy care'? For people who had no health insurance due to pre-existing conditions, its better care than what they had before. ..... Most provisions of the Patient Protection & Affordable Care Act haven't even taken effect yet. ..... Is your 'crappy care' comment just another of your predictions like the 'US is going to default on its debts in [pick one] 30/60/90 days'?

  • PPACA... PERSONAL PROPERTY APPROPRIATIONS COMMANDEERING ACT
    Leon DiJusticia
It is interesting to read the comments of Federal employees as they cringe at the thought of being made subject to this legislative chicanery. It is absolutely astounding how little these folks know about the effects of PPACA on private health plans. Small employers (
