NUF: of course it's true. They have carnival guys that will guess your age or weight. I haven't seen any that will guess your 401k balance. With the scammers out there today, any info you divulge could come back to bite you. Just like assuming the Dems care anything about FedEmp pay is now coming back to bite us. We sold our souls to one side and they've ditched us. Now Mod, please tell me fairy tales how the Reps are evil worse. Then go look at your paycheck.

  • RE: Fed Pay
    Rob
I've said before and will say again, in terms of what's best for federal employees and their pay we are better off with the GOP in the White House and either total Dem control of congress or a split. There is no way in this world a total Dem control of congress (or even a split congress) would allow a GOP president to freeze our pay or not give us pay parity with the military. The only reason the Dems accepted no pay parity with the 2010 raise and no pay raise at all in 2011, 2012, and 2013 is because a Dem congress is not going to go against a Dem POTUS. Call me stupid. Call me radical. Call me crazy. The bottom line is the Dems come out in support of feds and their pay when they don't have the White House.

I don't see GOP winning WH in my lifetime so the unions and FedEmp supporters better step up now.

How can a party that campaigns on the need to reform entitlements win an election over a party that promises expansion of entitlements? I'm willing to bet what little I have left in my bank account that in the 2016 run for the White House Hillary will again throw out her promise to give a $5000 savings bond for every child born in the US. If you're the GOP how do you compete with that? Offer $10,000 per baby? This bid for votes is sickening!

Unless something has changed recently, Bushcare (Medicare D) is still the largest unfunded entitlement in US history.

I never liked the prescription drug entitlement. The problem with liberals is they use GOP spending habits from the past as a way to rationalize wasteful spending by the current administration. I have no problem being critical of the GOP for their spending habits. Obama has added over $6 trillion in debt in 4.5 years. Can you find anything in that spending spree that was wasteful? Anything?

  • How you feed off of each other
    Moderate
It was interesting how rob and Contrarian fed off of each other with their nonsense. Actually, obama tried everything he could to treat the feds decently. it is your friends in the GOP who force Obama to have no pay raises and sequestration. This is done by refusing to allow Obama to spend the necessary money to fund the needed programs, caused, a huge amount by yor friends, Bush and the Republicans Depression. Without the money to spend, he was forced to give us no pay raises for 2 years and sequestration with no pay raise for a third year. To top it off your friends eliminated the puny 1/2% raise. Of course your friends want a 5 year freeze with an additional 5% contribution to our retirement plan.------Rob, I would rather see a Congress and Obama in office that will allow Obama to have the programs needed to get the economy moving again. it appears to be moving inspite of your friends' actions. And who knows, those affected by the Bush and the Republicans ecxonomic policies might even have health care.

  • nice try MOD
    Rob
Your party had total control of the government for Obama's first two years and did NOTHING. That's why the voters kicked them out in the 2010 mid-terms. Please take your head out of the sand. The two year pay freeze came from Obama when the Dems still controlled both the House and Senate. The DEMS voted against pay parity with the military for the only raise we got under Obama back in 2010. Again, that was decided when the DEMS had total control. You need to take the blinders off PLEASE! It's this type of distortion of the truth that allows radicals like Obama to get elected.

The funny part is that you are actually serious. Your friends from the GOP gave us the George Bush and the Republican Depression. And then, you actually expect obama to perform instant miracles. Well, he actually did start us on the road to recovery. He started the stimulus packages which were aimed at the people other than the wealthy. he gave the people who lost their jobs and/or health insurance a chance to obtain health insurance cheaply. He forced larger businesses to get health insurance for their employees rather than having them go without or try to pay for it based on minimum, or close to minimum pay wages. Since the Republican mess was so severe it has taken a few years, but we seem to be emerging from their mess.----And what have the Republicans done for us. They are starving federal agencies so that sequestration will go into effect. They want more tax cuts for the wealthy.----I guess if you repeat it often enough you will actually believe that the GOP is for the middle class. Well 2 + 2 will never equal 5 no matter how many times you repeat it. So how about stopping your distortions of the truth and get elected radical rightists out of office. Anyway, I do not like tea.

  • Let's get this furlough "show" on the road!
    Rock Man
Let's either do this thing, or cancel it altogether. The longer we wait, the more severe the impact will be on the continuously decreasing number of pay periods left in the Fiscal Year. What a scam.

  • Wait for the Movie?
    Joe
Once the furloughs start, going to the movies and Netflix will be the first expenses cut. Will have to wait until it comes out on free TV. Oops, the networks are thinking about moving to cable - guess I have to wait until it comes out on YouTube.

  • the allowed travel going on.
    Taxpayer Too
I'm facing 5 to 7 furlogh days and I just read where an Exam Director from Ohio traveled out to California for a Town Hall Meeting. This travel didn't even produce any income from collecting taxes. Why is upper management traveling and spending the money when there's furloughs looming right around the courner? The insanity needs to be stopped now! All this shows is that doo doo still rolls down hill.

  • what spending cuts?
    jspurway
too many things where spending is going on for no good reason considering the furloughs. Things like above, and google "300 tanks the army doesn't want". When the congress had rather furlough employees than cut spending for things that are not wanted....

  • You are right.

I saw the article you write about and it is disgusting. She will not raise morale by traveling like this while we go on furloughs. Speaking of that, there should be no get togethers by manager trainees while we are facing furloughs. Travel is limited to case travel for many people.

It feels like the movis is Groundhog Day. I wake up every morning to Sonny & Cher on the radio, then get ready for another replay of "furloughs are coming." It's like bumping into the insurance salesman every day.
