  • D.C. Federal Agencies Closed Wednesday
Your message is misleading because most teleworking employees were expected to work even though federal agencies were closed in the Washington Metropolitan area. When it is only announced that federal agencies are closed telework employees may not realize that they are still required to work. News stations need to get better at putting out the entire message from OPM's operating status.

  • A valid point
On Tuesday I was at a staff meeting when the subject of if the government was closed on Wednesday what should the teleworkers do. I pointed out that its best to get the information from the OPM website instead of relying on media sources where the "closing announcement" is usually a 5 second soundbite or a roll across the bottom of the TV screen.
