Has the House Veterans Affairs Committee read the past 13 years of GAO reports on integrating the DoD/VA health systems? If so, this should be of no surprise because DoD and VA have been consistent in their approach of keeping their systems separate and only linking them through data exchanges since the before the beginning of this century. If they were truly interested in having a shared system (either logically or physically) that would benefit service members and veterans, then DoD would have figured out how to make VistA work for them years ago...or how about if BOTH agencies now be pursue the purchase of the same state-of-the-art (Gartner Generation-3 level) system. In other words, why is just DoD looking at this option? Is VA suffering from the same not-invented-here syndrome that DoD is often accused of?
