I understand the talk of the furlough is April through September, but why does everyone think it will end in September? We haven't had a budget on October 1st in years, so going on the assumption of yet another CR would not the previous years budget be the basis? If so, why would that not include furloughs?

    Rob
Obama came out yesterday with yet another attempt to kick the can down the road. That game is over! Sequestration is going to happen unless the administration gets serious about addressing the long term fiscal problems. Raising taxes isn't going to get it done. No more temporary budgets or spending cut gimmicks. Time to make the tough decisions Obama. You wanted the job so LEAD for crying out loud.

If you would check, you would see that Congress has a role to play as well. Or at least according to the Constitution they are supposed to play a role. If my job performance would be three or four times that of Congress', I would have been fired long ago!

    contrarian
People confuse House and Senate all the time. If the House passes a bill, but the Senate never acts, who do you blame? And more importantly, who does it help to never have to vote on something, say a budget bill? Perpetual continuing resolutions should make it obvious that it's all monkey business.

Is this your way of saying the House has nothing to do with the problem? If you follow the news, you would know the House is not doing a single d*mn thing to avoid sequestration.

  • What news? You mean the Obama media?
    Rob
The House has passed plenty of bills including budgets, but the Senate fails to even bring the bills to the floor. The GOP has made it clear they don't want sequestration, but because Obama will not engage them in any real discussion on spending cuts the GOP is not going to help Obama delay sequestration any more. Obama owns it and it's going to happen. I say GOOD! I'm tired of Obama using his friends in the media to get his way. The media has handled this guy with kid gloves for 4 years. It's sickening.

I was unaware the Fox news was pro Obama. And there are plenty of radical right outlets that label themselves as conservative. Again, when the Republicans in the House pass garbage, it goes nowhere. Let your Republican allies get serious. Do not forget to consider the results of these spending cuts. No, the ball is in the court of the House Republicans.

  • House budgets
    Linbob
Thehouse has been "passing" budgets that it knows the Senate will not pass. So they can be as ridiculous as they want, knowing it won't happen. So, as far as I am concerned, the House is not doing their job. They have abandonded their responsibility. Elections are rigged so, what this country needs is a way for the citizens - all of us, to give Congress a vote of No Confidence. Mayb that will wake them up.

  • It is Obama!
    Rob
Obama comes out yesterday with this temporary budget stuff and gives absolutely no details. He does this all the time when it comes to spending cuts. He talks about the need to cut spending, but provides no specifics in terms of what he's willing to do. That's not leading. He has no problem providing specifics on gun control measures, but when it comes to spending cuts it's just talk.

  • Longer Furloughs?
    Linda
Furloughs maybe be shorter than predicted as people retire, because it is time and to get the heck out of there, and they won't be replaced. So the number of Emplyees will drop naturally. Not to mention trying to hire someone for a full time position that pays 4 days a week? Some people like part time, and won't want to go full time, others will not look at a part time position. I see furloughs stoping even with a CR due to attrition in most agencies.

  • Alternative To 20% Pay Cuts for Some
    smooth811
Why can't employee annual leave being earned or accrued be allowed to be "sold" days back to the Government in lieu of employees having to take days of leave without pay? Those annual leave days are included in an agency's funding and the agency's not having to pay for those days is as much a budget reduction as other measures.

Well this is the very reason the people are not allowed to keep and bear stealth aircraft and tactical nucs as part of the right to keep and bear arms. That is the law, the people able to take the country back. That aside I offer these ideas to save the country. 1 We put the fence up across 49 north. That way we keep cheap Americans from going to Canada to purchase lifesaving pain reducing drugs at half price. We save social security that way when all these folks die slow painful deaths and the folks that can afford to live help bailout big pharmacy at drug store prices. 2 We allow every person in America (citizen or not), to import a slave or two from India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, pick any other country, who will happily live in your garage attic pull down trapdoor and shower with the hose over by the trash for $150 a month, working 84 hours a week for you. The US Govt supports this life style now in countries like Saudi and Kuwait and think how much you will like shopping now that hired hands are making less than $1 Hr. The down side of this though is, your boss is going to expect you to work 7x12 for $400 Mo. 3 Immediately ban and make it an organ donor felony to use cell phones or text while driving. Huey Lewis forecasted (as in weatherman, not prophecy) this drug. It will kill more people this year than all gun violence in the USA, I bet $10. Cell phones many of know, are highly addictive and expensive. The RF energy is off the center of the cooking bandwidth of microwave radio, so the jury is out if you are exposed to any danger like living under high tension power lines. But, the fact remains, many of you have been known to thump the thing on your skull when you let the battery go dead… I bring all this up because it is very possible to make the USA just like some fourth world country, where $20 might be the most money some people ever saw. I leaning towards hyperinflation making all this possible very soon.

  • Several Corrections
    ben
The key phrase is "bear arms." No one can carry around aircraft and tactical nukes, just as they couldn't carry around cannons when the thing was written. The science is in on high voltage lines not affecting humans. Physicists have studied it to dead and reported on this. Hyperinflation would cause one to see $100 trillion bills, $20 bills would be equivalent to a half penny.

Ben summed it up. $20=1/2C. I figure about $650 for a draft beer in a dartbar in a year or two. Although I do really feel state Governors should hold the third launch key. Idaho with a STRAT B1 fleet and WA with the sub base. We take the NW back first that way and all on the up and up. Mod, dont you think something simple and free for EVERYONE that would shave a few Billion every year would work? I mean one swipe of his god like pen, and Obama could do away with the penny and $1 bill. Replace the empty cash register slot with the $2, and change slot with any of the billions of $ coins wasting away in vaults. Because it is an inconvenience to get use to this HUGH change across this voting districts... I wont even get into everything in the USA costing 3% more (well except at cash only places) because every American uses credit and every transaction costs the vender 3% from the credit card company. You don’t think they pass that 3% saving on to cash customers do you. Oh and at last check. To pay the current debt off at $1 per second (assumes no interest or increased debt). Will take 526,000 years. We cant fix this, no one can. It would be nice to go down fighting though instead of voting the same fools in every year because they divide the district up by backyard alleys and power line easements.
