Like chopping off an arm to lose weight. A clear sign of broken DC. While they fight to blame each other, the circular firing squad takes many of us with them. It's Kabuki theater and the media loves us. Rise Above=Big BS. Anybody notice how ABC network has all these anti-government shows? Last Resort & Scandal, how are the ratings?

Can't take anymore of the madness. I must admit the first 25 years were good. No complaints and no regrets. Can't say the same for the last 8. What a nightmare it has become. Scare tactics and bullying are too much. April 3, 2013, after 33 years, I am throwing in the towel. Hopefully, there will be no furlough days in retirement.

  • Affect on High 3
    Joe
The unpaid furlough days this year will probably prevent your high 3 for retirement calculation from going up - that is, if you got a pay raiser from a step increase or promotion.

Been at the top of grade since 2009. Hi 3 is what it is. There won't be any furlough days before I leave since CR is good through March 27.

  • You will love retirement. Especially when that infusion hits the credit union every 1st of the month.

  • Congrats, Fed!

Fed, three years ago I was where you are now. I was eligible in May, 2009, and it wasn't easy but I stuck it out until the end of the year to cash in on the leave payment and to maximize my high three. Yes, the scare tactics and bullying were rampant and I'm sure they still are. They were quick to show white males in their 50's the door, and I was quick to go through it!! Their loss was definitely my gain. You will love it! Been three years now and still each day is like the first. I do feel sorry for my colleagues left behind, but their day will come too.

  • Furlough Questions
    Pirsm
I heard Politico report on MSNBC this morning that Federal Furloughs were to be discussed today in the "horse country" of Virgina just oustide of DC. The subject of the meeting - "damage control". I'm very tired of the American public forming their opinon of Federal employess based on how poorly Congres performs. Cutting Federal Employee's pay to reduce spending is simple/easy for Congress to do, yet it does very little to address the real spending issues.

Wonder what the federal annuity's niche priority would be if the debt ceiling isn't extended.
