  • TSA's charter
    lpool
prohibits the establishment of a union, in part, to make quick adjustments to workload and get rid of under-performers. What happened? And why the wardrobe allowance? You work, you make money, you buy your own clothes. That's why you have a salary. These people aren't underneath cars changing oil where an employer might be expected to provide a clothing allowance. So do all feds now get a wardrobe allowance. Guess so under nobama.

  • The uniform allowance is most likely
    wisenekt
because TSA employees can not show up to work wearing just anything, they have a specific uniform like police do. Most places that require a uniform will have a uniform allowance in their work agreement.

Not a frequent flyer, but my recollection is for men, black pants and a blue dress shirt....perhaps a patch on the sleeve, but heck, my mom used to sew my bowling patches onto my sleeves. Don't need a clothing allowance for that. And for women at TSA, the norm for dress seems to be muslim dress....black veil and potato sack.

  • Could be....

The unionization may be be because AFGE and the Trial Layers are the Democratic Parties staunchest supporters. Both benefit immensely from this, at the expense of public safety. AFGE now has tens of thousands of new dues paying members. The Trial Layers stand to make untold millions defending underperforming TSA employees before review boards and courts. Democratic parties constituencies rewarded at the expense of public safety and taxpayers. Another great day for America.

  • Just what has AFGE done for anyone of its members in the last ten years?
    tncem
Absolutely NOTHING!! But, TSA wanted a union, they got one. Now they too can pay into the union coffer under the belief that they are actually here to help you. The TSA is comprised of losers and lazy-ies. They stop nothing but granpa's pocket knife from getting on board. They have yet to stop a terrorist - the very reason they were formed. They will not stop another hijacking. The only guns they find ar the guns left in briefcases by idiots, not terrorists. Last I knew, idiots and guns don't hijack planes....hijackers do.

  • What?
    Fed-well
How can you possibly know whether TSA has stopped terrorist hijackings and bombings? Because none have occurred on an American flight originating at a US airport? The facts indicate they gave stopped hijackings and bombings because none have occurred since 2001. The TSA operated, up until the unionization, in direct accordance with the recommendations of the bi-partisan 9/11 Commission. Airport security was applying before 9/11. Do you suggest we should go back to per 9/11 airport security. One thing we know for sure is that pre-9/11 led to hijackings leading to the death of thousands in one morning.

  • You don't have the slightest clue of what you're talking about.

Fisrt of all, TSA screeners are just as effective as pre-9/11 screeners moron. If you remember correctly, box cutters were used as weapons. Guess what? Bback then box cutters were allowed on airplanes. Guess what else? Those prior 9/11 screeners didn't make up the prohibited items list, the morons at FAA did. Guess what else? Those same FAA morons took over management at the TSA when the transition was made in 2002 leaving the TSA toploaded with idiots...and it still is. By the way moron, those pre-9/11 screeners went over 20 years without a hijacking... I think we have about 9 more years to go before they can say the same. The TSA is useless period. Sorry that you work for them, or wish you did. Why are we taxpayers paying over $25 an hour for a job that can be done for $8 an hour? Eliminate the TSA now....they stop nothing! Never have, never will.

  • Faulty Logic and Proving Negatives
    Fisher1949
Box cutters were allowed aboard aircraft in 2001 and the 9/11 Commission concluded that the failure of the FBI and CIA to share information and alert FAA was the problem, not the private screeners. In fact, nearly 50% of TSA's current workforce is made up of the pre-9/11 screeners on duty that day. TSA has never identified let alone stopped one terrorist after eleven years and $80 billion dollars. There haven't been any terrorist attacks at malls, sporting events or public areas and TSA has nothing to do with any of them, so they deserve credit there as well? TSA is useless and nothing but a jobs program for misfits and criminals.

  • HAHAHAHA!! Hey Fed Well...

Learn anything from all of these posts yet? If you work for the TSA - probably not as most are not capable of learning anything. Now, go push your rhetoric up someone else's arse... Idiot.

  • TSA Is a Disgrace
    Fisher1949
Now we have a unionized criminal workforce stalking airports. Expect TSA complaints to skyrocket and less disciplinary action to rein it in. There is a TSA screener charged with a crime or misconduct at least once a week. In the past three months 35 TSA workers fired or arrested and 66 more disciplined for misconduct. A known pedophile, Thomas Harkins, was exposed six months ago but remains employed as a TSA Supervisor in Philadelphia. There were 103 TSA workers arrested in the last 24 months including 15 arrested for child sex crimes, over 28 for theft, 12 for smuggling contraband through security and one for murder. This is apparently is acceptable for TSA while no other agency has anywhere near this number of criminal arrests. This is what you get from our government these days, less rights for citizens and more perks for Federal employees. TSA and its workers are a national disgrace and cannot be salvaged, they must be replaced. There is far too much public animosity and history of abuses, failures and crimes to ever make this agency anywhere near respectable.
