I see the market isn't overly bullish after last night. I wonder how many years into the 2nd term we'll get before the left quits blaming Bush. I suspect Bush will still get blamed all the way through the 2016 primary season.

Depressions take a long time to be eliminated. Look how long it took for Roosevelt to get rid of the Great Depression and that was because of World War 2. That George Bush and the Republican Depression

Still going on with the Depression thing, seems like your the only one who uses that word. Even the liberal tv stations don't call it a depression.

Guess history will decide. Compare this depression to other depressions excluding the Great Depression.

  • "tough times ahead"? Maybe
    FERS Fed
Depends on whether or not our politial leaders can compromise, avoid going over the 'fiscal cliff', and agree on a 'grand bargain' including long-term deficit control, reduced spending, increased revenues, and borrowing limits. If not, might be time to get out.

  • Increased Revenue
    ben
Historically, the largest increases in revenue occured after tax rate reductions. Good luck with that!

  • Increased revenue?

They also came at a time when the economy was down so tax revenues were low. It also helped that the fed reduced interest rates. Even reduced interest rates are not helping now.

Wow. Great response. What is not correct and why? Ciote the Bush reductions and the Reagan reductions as examples of my position.

  • President GOOD, Congress BAD
    Lisa Lisa
People tend to forget that the real downfall of govt has been Congress and that held true and was blatantly obvious when Obama took office the first time. Unfortunately, Congress hasnt changed as hopeful as I was hoping. Its a balance of power many say, but a balance of power works when the good of the people are put first and not for the good of the corporations, the GOP, the DNC, Tea Party, or SUPER PACS and not good when toddler like behavior is evident. Congress did very little these past 4 yrs and yet they drew a paycheck. If I as a fed worker were to sabatoge my work place and do nothing, you bet your sweet hiney I would see a PIP or be fired..yet somehow, its ok for Congress. I would be titled living in a bubble if I thought for a second that Congress THIS TIME would actually get anything accomplished. I have ZERO faith in Congress. I find them ethically and morally (sp?) challenged.
