That THE ONE who stated he would recede the oceans now presides over a massive overflowing hurricane?

Why is it that you right wingers take a small phrase or sentence totally out of context, twist it and not be truthful. FERS Fed told the truth. You did not. You definitely need to show some honesty.

  • Here's the full quote in context from the nomination acceptance speech
    FERS Fed
Doesn't sound to me like a promise to 'recede the oceans'. ..... "I face this challenge with profound humility, and knowledge of my own limitations. But I also face it with limitless faith in the capacity of the American people. Because if we are willing to work for it, and fight for it, and believe in it, then I am absolutely certain that generations from now, we will be able to look back and tell our children that this was the moment when we began to provide care for the sick and good jobs to the jobless; this was the moment WHEN THE RISE OF THE OCEANS BEGAN TO SLOW and our planet began to heal; this was the moment when we ended a war and secured our nation and restored our image as the last, best hope on Earth. This was the moment – this was the time – when we came together to remake this great nation so that it may always reflect our very best selves, and our highest ideals. Thank you, God Bless you, and may God Bless the United States of America." .... Probably didn't contemplate Republicans lock-step opposition to all WH legislation in fulfillment of Sen. Mitch McConnell's promise to make this president a one-term president. ..... BTW ask the folks in NY and NJ what they think about the rise of the oceans.

  • Very Presidential Indeed
    Rob
What was that quote from Rahm Emanuel? Oh yeah, "You never want a serious crisis to go to waste." The Benghazi crisis didn't work out to well for POTUS, but he has definitely made himself look presidential during the last 5 days hasn't he? Better late than never. Not sure it'll be enough considering the unemployment rate is exactly where it was 4 years ago. That's progress to some people, but the 12 million still looking for work might not agree. We'll know next week.

    Joe
Presidential? A quick photo-op with Gov. Christie then it was off to party in Las Vegas. Where are all the protests in NJ and NY about POTUS's incompetence over the aftermath of Tropical Storm Sandy? Everything was Bush's fault when Hurricane Katrina hit and the media thinks Obama is "presidential"? Millions without power or food three days later. 5 hour lines to buy gas.

You can thank your friend George Bush and his Republicans for the depression. At least Obama is heading us in the right direction in spite of your Republican friends. It is more than one can say about George and the Republicans. Maybe Mitt will bring us another depression.

  • Jeff is right!
    Linda
Had to laugh when I read Jeff K's remark. I said the same thing to my husband on Tuesday.................my immediate family in Virginia, Maryland and Philly are all fine. Still waiting to hear from cousins in New Jersey and an Aunt and Uncle in Statin Island. Hoping it is just lack of cell towers and power. My thoughts are with anyone dealing with the mess of clean up and horrors of the commute even if they had no major damage or family lost.

Heard late today. Everyone is well. Limited damage and a lucky break. A cousin had a 60 foot spruce land on his patio furniture, but missed the house. But, they have power! Go figures. A couple others with no power, but also no damage. So we are thankful.

  • Thankful for office closures
    GR82BMRA
Having spend my career in various locations I've experienced a gamut of weather and disaster conditions as well as some crazy decisions on office closures (or actually, non-closures): "hundred year" blizzards and floods (managements respone was to get to work when you can, but you're AWOL if you don't get in on time). Fires in S. CA (managament response: too bad if you're neighborhood is evacuating, get to work or you're AWOL). Tornados warnings(management response: there isn't one close to the office, get to work or you're AWOL). Now I'm stationed in the AZ desert where we joke the office should be closed when the temp is over 115 (but have also faced broken A/C and the office temp shoots to 100. Management response: get a fan and tough it out). But these were in days of old. Now there seems to be clearer heads. Yes it seems to those "outside the beltway" (or not on the east coast in the case of Sandy) that closing Federal Offices for one, two or more days is uncalled-for, but it is always better to be overly cautious then force people to be out during potentially dangerous conditions. And to head-off the attacks from Bud & Rob - I have always had the big R on my voter registration, always voted a straight conservative ticket (which has included some of the D's on the ballot, so no attacks from you, FERS FED or Moderate). Life is full of uncertainties (as is the weather forecast), so a little grace in the aftermath of what turn out to be poor decisions will do wonders for your countenance.

ATTAK ATTACK. Seriously, we all have the freedom to speak and vote as we see fit. The most imopportant thing is democracy with a small d. I just have fun here. I do not take it seriously. Bud is cool. We just disagree on certain things and that is okay. he is also very diplomatic. I just have fun on this board. I do not take it seriously. Just enjoy it.
