  • Sequestration will not happen
    vetdude
Be sure to save this article in your News Radio email file. What makes the President think Congress will get its act together by January 1 when in fact they and the congressional "Supercommittee" failed to develop a long-term budget plan 12 months ago? Sequestration will cost millions of jobs, weaken our military and further screw the current federal workforce. Hope and change?

  • It will begin a long and ugly trek to success
    JackTH
We are $16.2 trillion in debt as of Thursday COB. Defense takes up about $900 billion in all defense related costs. It tops social security, medicaid/Medicare and when cuts HAVE TO BE MADE, it makes only sense that Defense will be cut. The question is not should it happen, but how smart will they be when it happens. There is a lot to cut and they need to begin as soon as possible. The $50 billion suggested will hardly be a drop in the bucket. Think - $1,300 billion in annual debt - rounds to $1.3 trillion. $1,300 billion - $50 billion = $1,250 billion - rounds to #1.3 trillion. See my point? The biggest concern now, is what will they NEED to cut next?

  • Congress
    Mc
I'm not a big fan of Congress either but just so you know it was the Prez who didn't accept the Simpson-Bowles decision which was pretty close to the super duper committee. Sequestration is not the issue, the debt is the issue. Seriously, who will you borrow from to increase defense spending?

Another lie from Obama. If he didn't like it he didn't have to sign it.

  • Prince of Lies: $11 trillion from the past years appropriations plus that the DoD and supporting Agencies haven't spent
    Actor
$11 trillion from the past years appropriations plus that the DoD and supporting Agencies haven't spent and in procurement on top of this years $850 billion plus not counting another $60 billion plus for intelligence. Then we have duplicate Homeland Security projects and the list goes on and on. For example: Not to leave out over $1 trillion MIPR to other Agencies to "hide" the money just as the famous Dr. Bull's (killed by Israel intelligent as depicted on the History Channel on a 2 hour program) which cost over $1 billion for the long range gun project in 1991 where the money when from the DoD to the Dept of Agriculture, then to a Bank in Atlanta, GA and finally to building the partially completed gun. There are 100s of projects as far back a 1946 that are still being funded by the DoD which was briefed to the Senate in 1994 with a large chart of 100s of other projects and still being funded. And the list goes on and on. Just like flushing "money" down the toilet. For example: We have close to 20 aircraft carriers and now building 2 more, one in VA and the other in WA, to counter one China aircraft carrier that doesn't even have airplanes to fly off it's deck nor will they have for at least 5 to 10 years. What the "h***", let Feds print more money and the "h***" with 60 million poor in this country. America is Dead just like the British, Spanish, etc, and the Roman Empire went but without the telecommunications technology which makes out situation nth times worse. BOTTOM LINE: Cut DoD by at least $200 billion dollars and improve the management of projects. Also cut other Agencies under an intelligent 3 month review by a partial non government experts. This is only the "tip-of-the-iceberg".

  • Money Tree
    Mc
Haha, yeah, that's right. They can get more money from the Money Tree! Course, both parties are the same and will "kick the can down the road." Only problem with that is, they've kicked the can all the way down I-95, down the A1A, and they've come to that little concrete filled thing on the water that says "Cuba 90 miles." Just as Greece and Spain are realizing the can stops at some point, it will happen here too. Once debt is too high, interest rates will have to rise in order to get parties to buy debt. Like Greece and Spain(we're actually worse with over 500 trillion in credit default swaps) the banks "rescue" not the people but the bond holders of Greek and Spanish bank debt, and impose "austerity" on the people. Iceland told the banks to go jump in the sea and now they're coming out of the recession. Greece could have defaulted on 50 billion now look how deep they're in debt. Well, SOMEbody is benefiting from this, and its mostly the unelected parliament in brussels that wants to take over the budgets of these countries. That isn't democracy. Best thing is for each country go back to its own currency. hard times for sure but better than being slaves.
