  • Strike
    Dennis Retiree
In life, if you allow people or institutions to treat you like garbage, you deserve it. I think that Federal Employees are beginning to deserve the treatment that they receiving from the politicians. The answer is a national strike of Federal Workers. Whenever the issue of a strike comes up, the example of the Air Traffic Controllers is raised. The PATCO strike was doomed from the start. Their demands were incredibly greedy, and they had no support outside the Union. Also, a large number of the Air Traffic Controllers did not go on strike and with the managers, they were able to keep air traffic moving. Federal Workers go ahead and let the politicians destroy all that you have worked for all of these years, if you won't fight for yourselves, you deserve to get treated in this manner.

  • Dennis - you're a real genius
    Rob
Your comments never cease to amaze. What makes you think the general public will side with federal employees who strike because their benefits are under attack by politicians? Were you asleep during the whole union issue that went down in WI? I don't need my 5 weeks and a day vacation, uncapped sick leave, 10 federal holidays, very generous healthcare plan, 401K plus pension, etc in the spotlight more than it already is. Yeah boy, the general public, including the millions who are unemployed or underemployed, will feel really sorry for us feds.

Why can't the retirees have some skin in the games they play. You advocate doing something illegal for which we can be fired. I admit that I can retire at any time so my skin would be 1 year and 15 months. But what about those who lose it all for doing something illegal? Rob, Contrarian, and Sideline, you were too nice in your comments. I do not think much of him and he supports my side more than yours. Dennis, please think before you write. I know you are smarter than what you wrote above.

With unemployment down to 7.8 it should be real easy to find a new job.

I don't know about the rest of you, but I took an oath when I signed on and agreed that I would not strike. I took this oath willingly with the knowlegde that I was forgoing this right. As I recall, striking didn't work out so well for the PATCO folks.

  • Strike Not Too Bright
    ben
Mail service went on regional strikes a few decades ago. Army and National Guard stepped in. Resulets were mail arrived quicker. Strike ended suddenly. If Romney wins, it would make his decision of which government activities and employees are no longer required rather easy.

  • I agree strike not too bright, but...

That would be true of Obama also. Except, if Romney wins, look for a higher misery index among the middle class and lower economic class.

The misery index was highest when Carter, formerly the worst president, was in office.
