  • These Defense executives...
    JohnE
are crying crocidile tears. These pigs have been feeding at the government trough for far to long and had undue influence they bought by influencing the Congrees in defense decisions. President Esienhower back in the 1950's warned about the growing coziness of the defense industrial complex. And for decades these companies have been buying favor with Congress and the Congress has used its power to create defense related workfare for its constituents. It is long past the time to end that incesstuation relationship and this is as good a time as any. We have been making important military decisions for far to long based not on need but on how many jobs the project would create in a Congressional district. It lead to incredible waste and abuse by both parties and its time to end this relationship. The waste and fraud over the last 50 year could probably cut the national debt in half. Its disgusting and now all the wailing and complaints. The pigs are losing their seat at the trough. Yes, it will cost Americans jobs. It should never have been allowed to fester for this long and now it going to hurt alot of people but it has to be done. IMO the defense budget, now approaching $750B dollars a year including both white and dark expenses, is so grossly distorted and unstainable that Americans should be demanding an accounting. Trouble is the DoD cant even audit itself for one year let alone decades. They have NO way to even do that...the Department loses, thats cant account for tens of billions of dollars of expenditures. We could and must cut our defense spending and by at least one half. Right now American spends more money on defense that the top 15 countries in the world COMBINED including Russia and China. We can cut our defense spending by 350B a year and not hurt our ability to defend the nation. Unified command structure, cut the Battle Task Force down to 7 carriers, reduce the size of the active force to around 150000. Implement a singel procurment process and streamline acquisitions and many other initiatives. This needs to be done. We need to get thru the cuts and the loss of employment and it has to happen now.

  • Sad Story
    Just Asking
"13 defense executives bemoan uncertainty of cuts"...and of potential reductions in monstrous salaries and bonuses. They are also saddened by their sudden lack of influence despite mega-donations to both parties. Eisenhower was spot on.
