Farewell to the contractors, you made a bargain with the devil and now you must pay. Wonder how this flapping of wings and gums will turn out? Not looking good for those us getting squeezed on the income side with skyrocketing expenses? Can anybody tell me something other than my house, that's getting cheaper? I'd love the cheaper housing if I could give my mortgage a haircut. Thanks for the lower rate HARP, but the debt still means I'm shackled to the land.

Cant wait to see a 2 ton flesh eating radioactive butterzilla, flutterby. The one up side for all you still working folk, that kept paying on your house through all this. When hyper inflation kicks in. It should take a day or so wages to pay off the quarter million mortgage. Im not going to do so well on my fixed income with no COLA for 6 years. Course that assumes I dont move to Thailand and live like a king on a couple silver eagles a month... Remember Germany still pays cash for 90% of all large debt transactions. Many remember grandmas stories of a loaf of bread costing 10 pfennigs one day and a week later costing 1,000,000 Reich Marks. BBC carried a great story last night on the up side of hyper inflation. Wont be very good for banks, but who cares. I fly tonight. Only 122 in the shade, opps forgot there is no shade in Kuwait.

Safe trip home. I think congree - en mass - should take a trip to Japan to review damage then come back to vote on nuclear power. Maybe they will become "damaged" and be better at their job. Certainly can't get much worse.

DD: Good to hear from you. Time will tell about hyper inflation and what the CFR has in store for us. You may be right that the surviving employed may have an edge in the income dept., and so will those with low expenses. The losers will be all those people stuck in McMansions or big houses with high energy, high taxes, and nobody to buy them. Images from Dr. Zhivago come to mind. Keep in touch. We need your wit.

I for one am tired of it all. Stop all the posturing and bluffing and let it happen. It's time for the taxpayers to see the value of the programs and work being done by federal employees. Everybody wants cuts until it happens.

  • Don't understand
    Linda
What I don't understand, is that the Congress, when it gets back from vacation, wants to do a Continuing Resolution until March of 2013 to keep government at it's current levels of spending. Sequestration kicks in January 2, 2013..............So spend for 6 months, then cut the entire budget by 10%????? I hope most agencies start cutting back in October rather than cutting back 50% in April...But, most are probably not that smart.

  • Good points
    Moderate
You made good points Linda, but, due to the chasm between the Dems and the Repubs, compromise is too difficult to achieve. Therefore, we have continuing resolutions and faite accomple (speeling stinks) as far as expenditures are concerned.

The American people would be happier if the House and Senate took a five MONTH vacation.
