Number one should be make sure your muzzle has cleared your holster and you have a good site picture before killing the shooter.

A gun is like a parachute. When you need it, you need it now. If you don't have one, you'll likely not need one ever again...

You forgot, the last step: "Bend over and Kiss your a55 good bye." Alternative last step: Pull out weapon and shoot the shooter. Dummy. What did you think I would say, pull out a white flag? Dummy.

The problem is right there at the start of the video. As the actor walks into the building, the door has printed on it a warning about how carrying a concealed firearm, and presumably an unconcealed firearm, is illegal under some federal law. The dummy security guard is too busy chatting at the elevator that he's a sitting duck when the gun comes out. Then there are the screaming, frightened workers who fear the gunshots that aren't even being aimed in their direction. The solution is that at least one person should have come up from behind a desk, yelled "Drop your weapon!" and ended it right there. You don't need guns to do this. Five people from multiple directions against one shooter have a very high likelihood of defeating the active shooter. Even at the elevators where the dummy guard was shot, the woman should have reacted by charging the shooter, followed by multiple other people from behind. Hiding and running away aren't good solutions, because the fewer people that the shooter has to contend with, the less vulnerable he becomes.
