    Yes, the fear factor has been around for a long time, and our leaders know this. This is why there is required training, Schedule A NTE two-year appointments, WRP, internships, etc. The tools are there to "test the waters." Leaders and coaches in the workplace just need to start using them or use them even more. I believe you mean Section 501 of The Rehabilitation Act of 1973, as amended. Section 504 covers Nondiscrimination Under Federal Grants and Programs. Like E.F. Hutton, when a senior attorney from OFO speaks, stop talking, and lean in and listen. Ms. Hurst is among the experts over there. I think she hit the nail on the head when she spoke to the fact that we are all investments. When our leaders in the federal sector start thinking with that beautiful, caring, and reasonable mindset, then a lot of the barriers will begin to fall--and they will fall hard. What barriers, you say? Conduct some "barrier analysis," as required by the EEOC, and you will see what I am talking about. Let me know how that works out for you. You just might be amazed at what you uncover. The USDA kindly invested in me 20 years ago this past March, using the Schedule A NTE two year hiring vehicle. I was converted to Career Conditional after just nine months due to meeting my supervisor's expectations on the job. I remain thankful and productive to this day. I have risen from GS-5 to GS-13 as a person with rather severe disabilities who is highly functional and well engaged and making positive change for the taxpayers. And I'm the proud husband of another federal employee, father of twin boys, and a proud community volunteer, both in Central Maryland and in Hershey, PA, where I grew up. If I can do it, so can you!
