  • status of the federal retirees' trust funds

As some of you know, the Social Security trust fund, from a budget (cash) perspective, is paying out more in benefits than it is taking in. From a trust fund perspective, it is positive. Can anyone provide any details on the cash flow perspective for federal retirees' trust funds? I understand that last year, there was a $5 trillion liability for the federal retirees listed on the government's balance sheet. Don Levit
