Besides toothpaste ingredients you should know, a natural but synthetic source of strawberry flavor. One that the ice cream or cream filled pastry can legally say is 100% natural... Are you ready for this. Comes from the anal gland of the North American beaver. Makes a Pink Slime burger sound yummy with a strawberry shake (I will save the history of frozen fries for another short story). A CNN headline story this morning (late at night your time) is reporting the DEA left a mostly innocent person in lock down, handcuffed, in the dark for 5 days in LA. He survived by drinking his own urine. Maybe the latest natural flavor source for bottled water and surly another black eye for any fed. Myself, I have an unfavorable view of 62% of elected officials, rounded up for any state senate incumbent, that is naturally a 100% unfavorable taste in my mouth. I vote they all get locked in a small unheated (or un air conditioned) room with ample amounts of naturally flavored coffee, water and juice. Mood music of running water in the background, power point pictures of waterfalls scrolling every minute on the overhead and all the bathrooms locked tight. No one in or out until they balance the budget and reduce the deficit by 2 Trillion in 2013 and eliminate it by 2017. They would all be home by the summer break with nothing to do the rest of the year but run for reelection. A winning deal for everyone.

Guess you can find the magic cure for the Bush depression. This is a major reason for the huge deficits. Another one was Bush's vendetta with Iraq. Another one is the tax cuts for the wealthy. Elimination of that could help reduce the deficit. Tell your republican brethren to vote for that one. Additionally, does the military need all of the weapons it gets?

...and that means entitlements. Look at the Medicare and Medicaid curves. They are simply unsustainable. Obamacare did nothing to bring down healthcare costs...it only extended availability to more people who have little inclination to question a doctor's decision to order one or thirty tests. Until the medical profession has adequate supply that will bring competition we will continue to get more demand than we have doctors, thus more upward pressure on costs. By the way, they are Obama's tax cuts now - - he signed them into law. And since the high earners (not necessarily wealthy) are the only ones who pay taxes of any significance, it is hard to stimulate an economy without cutting taxes for the high earners. Provide some certainty to businesses and get rid of the egregious mandates in Obamacare and you will see the economy take off. Until then, get used to unemployment over 7 percent as the new "norm". Of course, that may be the Democratic strategy - - a permanent class of unemployed dependent on government handouts so they will always vote Democratic. Talk about symbiosis....

Obama is looking pretty good since I need his tax policies and damage to the USA to contiune a couple more years so I can cash out of this country. Pretty sad for a life long republican to say. I got an idea, Nova. Give up your job, your medical, and your accumulated pension. You might appreciate Obamacare a little more. The purpose of Obamacare was to make sure that people who cannot afford medical insurance can have it. It also forces the slugs who do not want to buy medical insurance to pay a penalty. Why should they have a heart attack or something similar, go to the hospital, and then tell them that they cannot afford to pay and do not have medical insurance. It also forces greedy employers of a reasonable size to supply medical insurance for their employees.

I can take care of myself. I don't need to depend on a law that we needed to pass so we could find out what's in it (Pelosi). If Obama wanted to expand medical care to everyone, just change eligibility for Medicare to birth and change the percentage of payroll tax from 1.45 to whatever was needed. Problem solved. All Obamacare does is stop medium sized employers (less than 50) from hiring more employees. It is a detriment to growing the economy. Companies will provide insurance coverage to their employees if it makes sense and they can afford it. Of course with the increased costs due to mandated coverage for everything, fewer and fewer can afford to cover their employees. People are giving up looking for work. The partcipation rate in the economy hasn't been this low sinc 1981.

I know you can take care of yourself. If you work your employer probably gives you health insurance. You also have a job with decent earnings. I am telling you to put yourself in the place of those who lost e=their jobs due to the Bush depression or those whose employers are too rotten to give theor employees health insurance. Obamacare resolves those issues. It also forces people to have health insurance so that hospitals do not have to treat them without proper compensation. So stop weasel wording what Obamacare really does. I am sure you would rather stick it to hospitals and victims of Republican economic policies.

    NOVAJacket
You need to change your monicker. Anyone who supports forcing people to have health insurance cannot be a moderate. You, sir, are a left wing liberal. Period. Until we bring down health care costs, expanding access to it without additional supply of health care simply drives up costs even more. It is getting harder to find doctors who will take on more Medicare patients due to the low compenstaion they receive. It will only get worse with Obamacare's plan to decrease Medicare compensation even more. Everyone will be on a strict diet of what care you can get - - just like the European model. By the way, Obamacare does nothing about illegal aliens. They will still be treated free at hospitals. They will not be required to purchase health insurance. You claim to know what I would do. Let me tell you instead... I would get rid of the medical industry's monopoly on how many and what number of doctors we have. No other profession in America is allowed to limit the supply of its providers to ensure there will always be more demand than can be met. I would require doctors to advertise their services and prices just like any other profession. I would get rid of advertising of prescription drugs. I would actually set up a series of free clinics around the country to treat the indigent and poor. I would never try to force every American to enter into a contract with a private organization just for existing - - what Obamacare calls for and you support. My bottome line is I want people to take on more of the burden of thinking for themselves and taking care of themselves - - questioning their doctors on what, why, and how they are being treated. The more you allow doctors unfettered control over what and how much patients are treated, you have corruption. The recent examples of rampant Medicare fraud confirms it....

Then you go on to say that clinics should be set up around the country to treat the indigent and poor. You would need a huge number of clinics to treat all of the people who cannot get health insurance. I agree with you that illegal immigrants should be returned to their countries and not have access to our facilities. legal immigrants should have the same rights as citizens.---- Actually, you are wrong about professions limiting certifications (in your case medical degrees) CPA's may not admit it, but new CPA's are very limited. I do not know about other professions and neither do you.----Speaking of facisim, you would force doctors to advertise? Are you for real? Would you force any other profession to advertise? You must have fouled up your thought process, so I will write that off as a mistake.-----Your bottom line makes no sense if you are going to set up these free clinics. Yes, I am for real. Unfortunately, you refuse to comprehend what I am proposing. Today, doctors are prohibited from advertising their services. Remove that barrier and you will see some competiton. Doctors don't have to advertise, just like GM, Ford, plumbers, electricians don't have to. Allowing them to do so is what I am proposing, and you know it. I never said force, you did. It is amazing how you like to twist a proposal to the absurd. As far as CPA's, their service is not in dire needs. We don't have a big defici in CPA's - - we do in doctors, especially GP's. We have a plethora of lawyers.

I will edit copy and edit caste your sentence about doctors. "I would require doctors to advertise their services and prices just like any other profession." This is your quote. Please do not accuse unless you are sure. If it is a mistake, just say so. I make plenty of mistakes too. Also, doctors are permitted to advertise. And I would not allow them to advertise prices. The reason is that when surgery is done, you do not know what kind of complications will result. You do not want short cuts here to keep with an advertised price. This is life and death. I would like to hear from others, because I am not so firm on this issue. Are you sure we have enough CPA's? These are not Obama's tax cuts. You are weasel wording for the radical right. The radical right Republicans would not allow the continuing tax cuts for the middle class and poor unless the wealthy got their extentions as well. It is called filibuster. So tell the truth.-----As far as your economics are concerned, the middle class spends more of their income than the upper class. That is what stimulates the economy and gets businesses more profits. That will encourage business to hire more people and cut unemployment. This is better than bringing the Republican sweatshops of the early 20th century back. When Bush proposed and got Congress to pass the tax cuts when the country was entering recession due to the dot com bust that was a bad thing? When Obama signed the tax cuts to stimultate the economy that was a good thing??? Make no mistake, these are Obama's tax cuts. He could have let them expire. He chose not to. THis is Obama's economy now, despite your desire to continue to blame Bush. Disposable income is what drives the economy. People with disposable money are those that pay the most taxes. The top 1 percent earns 22 percent of all income. They pay 39 percent of all income taxes. The top 50 percent pay 96 percent of all income taxes. Seems like the bottom 50 percent needs to start paying their fair share. The "upper class" as you state it invests their money in companies like GM, Ford, etc - - perhaps if the middle class would quit buying video games and start buying stock of the company that made the video games, they might become the "upper class".

Please tell the full truth. Obama wanted a tax cut for the lower and middle classes. He wanted it repealed for the wealthy. The Republicans filibustered this proposal and forced Obama to either give everyone the tax cut or no one. So this is still Bush's nonsense. And Bush's cuts were aimed more towards the wealthy on a per capita basis. This includesw tax rates, dividends and capital gains . The latter 2 are tax advantages for the wealthy.----Of course the wealthy pay more taxes. That is the definition of a progressive system. I guess you expect the poor to pay as much as the wealthy. Your priorities are messed up.-----The lower economic people pay more of their income for basics out of necessity. Thje upper classes invest more, but also spend more on wealthy stuff here and overseas. The middle class buys somne videos, but not like the wealthy.

jest.... Do you really want to have a conversation, or do you want to sling disparagies to anyone who disagrees with you and call them names???? Incentive drives everything. The more you tax people, the less incentive there is for them to work and the more incentive to shelter their income from taxes. I want everyone to pay their "fair share". Since the bottom 50 percent pays only 4 percent of all taxes, how is that fair? Ideally, I would support a system with fewer appropriate exemptions, fewer deductions, and lower overall tax rates. High tax rates are the seeds for Congress to craft laws with targeted deductions in return for campaign contributions - - by both parties. The US has one of the highest corporate tax rates in the world, and it is littered with targeted exemptions aimed at favored companies who magically contribute to elections. Get rid of the high rates and you get rid of the incentive to contribute.

It can always get worse, and indeed it has! "Graduate student Daniel Chong was hospitalized after being left alone in a windowless holding cell for five days" (by DEA agents). He had to drink his own urine to survive. There has traditionally been two views of this. (1) It doesn't matter what your salary is, you should do your job competently and you should be expected to do so, and (2) the lower the salary, the less you have to work with in your workforce. Democrats usually point out number 2 and seek increases in wage to hire a better quality workforce, but Republicans usually point out number 1 - you should do your job, even if you are paid 1 center per hour. The fact is, this happened in high cost California so that these workers may not have even cared about their jobs or their fellow human beings. This could be the new federal workforce coming up - people who couldn't care less about anything to do with their work - but chances are someone will say "isolated incident" to try to make it all go away (at least in their own mind).

It is incredibly easy for trained professionals, (CIA,KGB types) to get the goods on you, and start you down the road to ruin. The threat of telling your employer, the authorities or your spouse is a convincing tool to get you give up valuable intel. And once the hook is set, you are hooked.
