  • DOJ prosecutorial misbehavior
    Not mentioned as such in the article was that the erroneous conviction of Senator Stevens resulted in his defeat for re-election in November 2008, and the consequent adding of his Democratic successor's vote - to reach the bare minimum of 60 needed - to close debate on the Obamacare legislative package in the Senate and ensure its passage in 2010. Yes, there were many ramifications indeed as a result of over-zealous prosecutors seeking to gain a conviction at all costs in this instance; any negative career ramifications for them have been richly deserved.
