  • PAC Money
    Linda
Maybe if the Super PACs had to contribute 1/2 of their gross receipts to the National Debt we'd have less nasty commercials and less debt?!? It's a thought.........................As far as Congress doing nothing, that can be a good thing.....At least if doing nothing includes spending money on useless projects like wars and bridges to nowhere.

  • Fed employees political clout
    Hall
I think Federal employees are likely voters, and the ones I know definitely keep up on legislation that will affect Federal employees. They are aware of the machinations the politicians use and the misleading and/or erroneous statistics that are thrown around. So, I do think we are informed voters. Whether we have the numbers to be influential, I am not so sure.... There are some biased media sources that seem to have as their main function "scaring" their viewers so they will get het up and keep watching, rather than rationally evaluating the news. the impact of those media and the Superpac ads is hard to overcome.

  • problem with eyeonwashington data
    Jerry A.
The tables compiled by eyeonwashington seriously underestimate the number of federal workers in Maryland. The Department of Health and Human Services (National Institutes of Health, FDA, and Medicare/Medicaid) are completely absent from these lists, but employs thousands of workers in Baltimore, Frederick, and Montgomery counties. Take these tables with a huge block of salt (i.e. be very skeptical).

  • To X Taxman Response to snow issue and admin leave part 1

This is from a couple of months ago when I wrote that if you attempt to go to the office and were prevented from doing so. I wrote that you would be entitled to admin leave. You wrote cite your source. sorry it took so long, but I will do so. See the 2009 National Agreement between the NTEU and the IRS, Article 36 Section 3(B). You may Google this and I got the Michigan chapter's edition, but I have my paper copy. "The Employer has determined that if the emergency conditiobs described above exist and prevent an employee from arrival at workand the post-of-duty is not closed, the employee is granted administrative leavefor absence from work for a part of the employee's workdayupon providing Employer with reasonably acceptable (cont)

documentation that the employee made reasonable efforts to reach work, but that emergency conditions prevented timely arrival..." I accidently left out leave for absence for part or all of the workday. Section 3 A discusses closure of office. 3 B continues with the factors considered by the Employer.----I hope this resolves the citation you wanted for my so called absured assertion. Also, I do not drive a Yugo. That was an idiotic remark. And Deployed Decoy, you remark about wanting me to watch my kids die in a car accident was stupid and totally uncalled for. I assume that you do not have children and cannot understand the bond between children and parents. If you have children, then ...what can I say?

No kidding. I think I wrote that from a topic a few months ago. I was challenged to cite a source. I was able to give him the information today. I have responded to some of your statements that you write on topic the previous day and you carry them over to the next day. So how about letting me give the person the response he needed even if it is a bit late and stop with the idiotic comments.

Maybe Mike can suggest some coping methods to focus on the greater meanings of our lives than the real idiots, which are the politicians in DC. ALL of them. We didn't tell them to put us in this boat, heck the people I vote for don't even win!

As long as you've got your little book of rules out, I suggest you read up on the section dealing with Employee Assistance, and take advantage of those free counseling sessions!! Life's too short, dude!

Just wanted to give you the information you requested. And I wanted a better answer than the one I gave generalizing the travel manual. After all, maybe you should read the criticism I got when I stated what the rules were. And then maybe you should read the idiotic comments I got when I finally was able to get the research you requested. And maybe you should apologize concerning your Yugo comment. Finally, DD should apologize concerning his comment about me watching my kids die in a car accident. Your comment about the Yugo was just plain stupid. His was offensive. Both were personal. Maybe you and DD need the counseling.

  • Yugo
    X-taxman
Dude, there's no shame in driving a Yugo. It's a free country, you can drive whatever you want! No need to be defensive about it. Your remarks are disparaging to all your fellow Yugo owners, past and present. Maybe that's all they could afford with a Democrat in the White House! And I agree, you need to focus and stay on topic.

Have you gotten senile since you retired? There is no shame in driving a Yugo, so why don't you drive one? And why did you accuse me of driving one? It was meant in a disparaging way.----And I was trying to do you a service by authenticating my statement regarding snow emergencies while the office was open. I did not have a chance to do it on a timely basis. But, I assume you wanted an answer. Otherwise, you would not have asked the question. And now that you do not like the citation? You do not make sense.

  • I buy real winter tires
    deployed decoy
with studs when legal. I drive all wheel drive cars, that I put in all wheel drive (if not automatic) even if it takes more gas. I do this becuse the kids are in the car. if it ws just me, i'd leave the summer V rated racing tires on and hope you stayed out of the way. I do agree with the smartest guy on this blog, Contraian, that you might need to stay on the topic. Just the facts sir.

Actually, where did you get the idea that anyone is the smartest on the blog? Further, I stayed on point by answering X Taxnman's question. It was late, but late is better than never.----Speaking of staying on point, please wexplain how your mentally deranged comment about wanting me to watch my kids die in a car accident was relevant to anything. And yes, I use safe tires. Again, your comment about leaving summer V rated tires...shows you are not all together here. You do need counselling
