  • GOP and their paid for positions to the BIG BUSINESS
    Linda G.
This is what the whole thing has been about anyway, Politicians catering to BIG BUSINESS who see more money for themselves. What is the point is trying to get rid of 700.000 Fed employees? So that "Congress" along with the the BIG BUISNESS who bought them get the business of contracting out our jobs? It is so ignorant that all FED employees should be able to read between the lines here. They still have to pay these contractors and they will have to pay them more and as one can see, they want to get rid of the union so that there will not be any once their Big Business stoolies take over. I say OBAMA 2012 all the way for me. This is why the GOP has bashed Fed employees so hard to make the public think we are overpaid shiftless want for nothings. I hope none of these satan worshipper tea party, these sorry candidates who are running for President and the most of these Republicans are OUT in 2012!!

  • Obama is no different than the Republicans
    kenifer47
Who pushed for the two year (or more freeze) on pay and benefits? Senate Liberals like Liebermann and Susan Collins would like to continue the freeze another year or more. So, with that how can you say it is only the Republicans? Fortunately, we have congress people and senators from MD and VA (Democrat and Republican) who support their constituency and say ok enough. They know that hiring contractors is the more expensive way to go to fill positions in the federal government. But the elected officials from both sides, who get their pockets lined by government contractors and not federal employees, say "screw them". It is not just Republicans Federal employees have to be wary of and don't forget that. If you're voting for Obama, maybe this is the only issue on your agenda.

Is your head really still stuck where the sun don't shine? You're still blaming mainly Democrate for the assaults on the Federal work force? Of course Demo/Republican in MD and VA has to fight for this because it affects the people in this region. The rest of your beloved Teabaggers can give a rat's tail about Federal workers and would love to strip everything away if they had their way. Obama's at fault for this too since he doesn't have the backbone to push those GOP back where they belong, but instead caves in with his many compromises. If you want to sound credible then you need to stop posting stupid and ignorant information about how liberals are to blame for the Federal assaults. Anyone normal half decent IQ adult can see that the GOP are the ones who wants to downsize federal work force and upsize the contracting business side of the house. I'm tire of seeing ignorant and stupid folks yapping about Liberals are to blame for the Federal benefit mess.

Kennifer, are you speaking newspeak where if big brother says that 2+2=5, then that is so. I will say that Lieberman and Collins did write an article supporting a freeze on fed wages, but they are not liberals by any stretch. Collins used to be a moderate Republican, but seems to be more conservative now. I do not know how to classify Lieberman except he is angry at the Democrats due to the election. If you read about Issa and others, plus their lackies such as the Heritage Foundation then you know it is the radical right Republicans and tea party associates who are pushing to stick it to us.---Please stop making up lies to support your radical right friends.

Kenifer37 is one of these types of folks who his tea party loving rep put out of work and dismantle his/her benefits, but sits back on the sidelines, still trying to rationalize it. -Having my job at stake. benefits, healthcare and retirement played around with is no game to me and my family. It maybe to you Kenifer37, unless you are one of these rich kids or adults who has money and sit there and talks smack. Most of us are not rich, we are the middle class and we will not stand around and let these types of raven wolves folks steal our voices nor our lives. Now, you keep on sitting back thinking with your tail end. When you have nothing I like to see how much you are on here posting then.

  • Obama is very much different from the Republicans
    GetRidOfTeaParty
.The President doesn't go on nation TV and say "YOU LIE!!"- The President doesn't sit there constantly block any kind of progress that can help the country.- The President doesn't "HATE" the Republicans and does all he can make to sure that they never return with expense of making the country suffer.- The President hasn't said on national TV that, " His goal is to make sure that are 1 time official."-. I can go on with the facts, but it would take up to much time. As far as I can see, Obama has been a pussycat dealing with these tea party republicans, he has just about gave in to many things that these folks cried over and that left most Dems upset because he was trying to have everyone work to together but these silly Republicans ( Not all mind you) hate him, they hate him because he isn't a YES SIR MASTER! I guess they thought he was going to roll over and just be another GWB whom by the way created this messy economy and Obama inherited it and put his spend on it by borrowing to much. Point is, these republicans (tea junkies} you seem to love so much are the most idiot folks I have ever seen in office, They have made a complete spectacle out of the WH and they disrespect the President at all cost and this so because they have no respect for themselves nor the district that made a mistake voting them in, who now wishes they hadn't. I have never seen so much hatred and disrespect in office before shown against a President. This is why the Europeans and the rest of the world LAUGH at these idiots! They are radicals and not good for the country nor do they have the people or the country interest at heart. They speak stupid each time one opens his or her mouth. I do believe that the country majority rule wants them out and you cannot dispute this fact. So you need to cry that tiny violin to someone who thinks like you and those hateful Republicans. Last but not least, so goes your pitiful comparison. Enough Said..

    007
I'm a Republican, but I'm sick and tired of hearing from my party how I'm overpaid, underworked, and basically useless. I'm pocketbook voting these elections, and I don't care if there's a "D" after the candidates name.

  • 80 percent
    postal widow
I wanted to know where the statics come from for the 80 percent cost, when in the past professor joel popkins testified before a presidental commitee on postal labor costs and that can still be found online today, and in fact had been in the past posted on the awpu web site, from 2000 to 2004 he tesified that the labor cost for usps wsa 56.7 percnt not 80 percent as for cutting the work force this all came about because of the overpayent to federal retirement in the first place, from taxpaying workers paychecks, then in 2006 the postal accountiblity( not) and "enhancement" ( subtraction) act was enforced, to take 20 billion more for retirement and yet it is still stated that retirement benifits should not be extended to postal workers, that they should take cuts in staff due to an overpayment and cointinuing on with the ideology by both parties, is somewhat redundant. As a widow of a Postal worker who was forced under the paea to not only do his own route, but expected to do another 40 hours of work plus another additional 15 to 25 week of work, plus take a duel casul not allowing days off from the work force, plus retalitation for doing any collective bargaining act, plus be illigally retalitated with a false removal and then die, I would like the answers of why this ocntinues to go on, when it is congress that orignally started to attack middle class workers for paying into retirement and then withdrawing from their business so much but at the same time handing over top bonuses with hefty retirment ( like potters ) so the rest of the work force can continue to hear, they do not desserve benifits or cost of living expenses or even workers to help with the work load. so in essense the postal service need protection from congress by congress, and since this has a plan of privatization from the sources that be, downsizing the 2nd largest employer of veterens just so the consittution can be ingnored kind gives the impression that the values the coutnry was built on do not matter to congressmen in general. Yet every postal person must swear to uphold the constitution. I am beginning to think that it does not matter if your replublican or democrate , it matters wheather you belive you are a patriot and follow the consitution, and in there is the clause of building post offices, not selling them off for the nearest bidder to make money for the economy. perhaps there are more then 80 percnt that agree with my take on the situation.

  • Death by Entitlements
    IamFEDup2
I was a Federal Employee for 12 years and now (last 11 years) work for the private sector supporting the Federal Government. My observations are these: 1) Many Federal employees are overpaid for what they do and/or attempt to do, 2) staff that work for me in my present company are not paid as much as the Gov't employees we support and that do similar work, 3) my current staff is far more capable & dedicated than those I worked with and observed in the Fed Gov't. It's utter nonsense to buy into the mantra that on average, and for the same or similiar position description, Federal Employees are paid less than the private sector, in fact on average they are paid more, at least in the Metro area. These higher salaries are further exasperated in their overly generous retirement plans. Thinking about this, perhaps I was foolish to leave such a lucrative position. We, as a nation, have got to get this under control. I understand that cut backs hurt people (at least their expectations) - but they are necessary. However, they need to be done slowly; a weening process will be much more effective than stopping 'cold turkey'.

Why did you leave if you were overpaid? You probably make less in the private sector unless you are overpaid now and your underlings are underpaid.-----What did you do for the feds?------I match skills with those who make more than me. They are usually partners in small CPA firms. And, if I know materially more than them they hire lawyers. Rest assured they drive much nicer cars than I do. They also have a better lifestyle than I do. But I am a good technical match for them. If you match job for job, instead of using the right wing averages, we are grossly underpaid. The pay master and the last study done says were are underpaid. There are no further studies to prove otherwise. So cut the nonsense.

LamFedup2 i'm sorry that contractors where you're at are underpaid relatively compare to the govie workers. Perhaps you should go cry to your contracting company for paying you pennies on the dollars that they're getting from the contract. They're laughing their way to the bank by low balling you guys for I know contracting companies get paid handsomely for each contracting position. While we're on the subject of govies being overpaid, tell me why so many left to go back to the private during the dot.com boom genius? It's so convenient to cry pay when your private employers ship your jobs overseas and the govies still have theirs, however it's not an issue when the private booms and the fed gets left behind in pay and benefits.
