  • Either way, hardworking, middle class federal employees would lose out.

It's depressing, really. Whether the payroll tax is not extended and paid for by freezing federal pay for one or more years more, or not extended at all, millions of hardworking, middle class federal employees will lose out. Please note that while we're honored to serve, we don't particularly like being treated like garbage. While you're mulling this over, please keep in mind that we earn 26% less on average, according to the latest nonpartisan, official reports (and closer to 40% lower in the DC region), than comparable private sector employees. Personally, I'd rather pay more in the payroll tax than have a longer and more damaging freeze in my pay. Importantly, the hypocrites in Congress, who constantly talk about our military heros needing to be protected forget to consider that 24% of the federal workforce is made up of military veterans, the same heros Congress says they want to protect. They can't have it both ways. Are veterans heros, or are they the reason the country is in financial trouble? You choose and act accordingly.

Sorry, I meant to say, Whether the payroll tax is extended and paid for by freezing federal pay for one or more years more, or not extended at all, millions of hardworking, middle class federal employees will lose out.
