  • Mentoring
I'm all for mentoring and as is stated, it has been going on via an informal basis and only 'here and there.' Shame on any supervisor who doesn't mentor his/her personnel. My problem is that one is either a role model, i.e., mentor, or not. And sending 'mentors' to Colorado for a week of 'mentor training' is, to me, as GIANT waste of my tax dollars. Mentoring covers the gamut of role model, someone to look up to, be trusted, believed, willing to have patience, etc., and that doesn't come from 'a week in Colorado.' That's from the best college in history, the School of Hard Knocks, i.e., experience. Save tax dollars, please.
