  • Cure for Congressional Dysfunction - No Pay for Non-Performance
    Fed8
When Congress and the President fail to pass and enact appropriation bills, they have not produced any anything of value. The American people should not reward Congress for work that it has not performed. It is time for the House of Representatives to act on S. Bill 388. (An Act to prohibit members of Congress and the President from receiving pay during Government Shutdowns). The Senate passed the bill on March 1, 2011 and sent it to the House on March 2, 2011. The House has two similar measures, H.R.1305 (An Act to prohibit Members of Congress, including the Delgates and the Resident Commissioner to the Congress, and the President from receiving pay during Government Shutdowns) and H.R.819 (Government Shudown Fairness Act) that have languished in committees since March of 2011. It is time for our Congressional representatives to be accountable and responsible. As a result of the 27th Amendment, enactment of this legislation would not be effective immediately. However, passing this legislation would improve the efficiency of our Government and provide a strong stick to stop the dysfunction and insanity.

  • Non-Pay status for Congress

Interesting comment that since furloughed employees are not "producing anything of value", they should not get paid. This coming from a member of a self-described dysfunctional congress. If congress had to produce to get paid, they'd all be volunteers.
