  • Diversity hiring article
    Unfortunately, hiring "goals" in programs like the cited VA "diversity index" all too easily morph into unofficial but very real hiring quota systems. Managers very quickly learn that that not meeting such "goals" leads to unpleasant consequences, and they draw the obvious infertences as to the implications for their short and long term career prospects. The Federal government needs to be all-inclusive in its recruitment outreach to broaden applicant pools, with the essential focus on thereby hiring or promoting the truly best qualified, regardless of their race, sex, etc. Enough of the hypocrisy that has long beclouded this issue.
