["It simply makes no sense to slash the budget of the agency that generates 93 percent of the government's revenue at a time when reducing the deficit is a national priority." ] ================================================== Not a correct statement. The IRS doesn't "generate" any revenue; it "collects" revenue. Individuals & companies generate monies through their labor & investment activities. A better/more efficient way to collect revenue is through a national sales tax applicable to all exchange of goods/services. That would reduce the number of gov't employees needed to collect the income. (BTW, yes this approach too can be bi-passed just as the current system is.)
