  • So THAT'S Why I Get a Pay Freeze for 3-5 Years
    Radar Tech
Oh, silly me! I thought we were in economic dire straights! I mean, we have this $14-$15 Trillion dollar debt and a $1.3 Trillion dollar deficit and, holy smokes, we just HAVE to cut spending somewhere. Oh, I know, we'll freeze all the worker bees pay for years and years so that we can build things like this! Gee, I wonder if the contractors that built this got a pay freeze, too. Well, at least this explains where some of the Trillions of dollars are going. I've got to remember this the next time they say that we "all" have to cut back and make do and sacrifice for the good of the country. You know what...I think they should not raise the debt ceiling. I think they need to shut down crap like this. I think we need to stop building multi Billion dollar State Department buildings in countries like Iraq and Afghanistan. We ARE BROKE!!! We DO NOT HAVE THE MONEY FOR THIS!!! Why else did we suffer the pay freeze if it were not for the fact that WE ARE ON THE EDGE OF FINANCIAL COLLAPSE?!?

  • Oh Yeah, Not Just a Pay Freeze, but a Back Door Pay Cut of 6%
    Radar Tech
Oh, I forgot, we won't just have a pay freeze. We will have a back door pay cut of 6% when they increase the amount we have to put into FERS. The hits just keep on coming! I know that this is terribly motivating for me, and I love Mom, apple pie, and the USA. I wonder how it affects some of the folks with a lower threshold for BS pie?

  • atrium
    maxtor
if the statue of liberty could be placed in the atrium of this building then that tells me there is a lot of wasted space that could be utilized to build something else in that building!!! the more space utilized the more the savings, correct?? the more furniture you put in a house the more your electric bill will go down...proven fact.....not as much space to heat.

  • ACTUALLY
    maxtor
i dont know why we dont quit building new federal and state buildings when the current building could be used for many years to come. take a look at Russian building. very simple and efficient and costs way less to build. stop building and save that money. they dont need palaces to work in but just a simple office that serves the purpose, 4 walls, desks and chairs.

  • Arl/Alex only seeing more CO2 - where's the Green?
    fm110
For Arlington and Alexandria, VA this means spending more money to build more buildings, increasing traffic congestion, and moving away from mass transit options. I really don't see the Green effect you are referring to in these areas. All of these repercussions increase CO2 production and are far from green. I am all for Greener buildings, but renovate the current buildings in use to spread your Green footprint. Building new ones in inappropriate locations for the purpose of benefiting the pockets of politicians and military officials that have their hands in the pot of the contractors getting these jobs is ridiculous! Their are true benefits to BRAC and Greener buildings, but Arlington and Alexandria aren't seeing those benefits!
