  • Retirements and pay freeze
    Moderate
I would think that those who do not have to work any more and have sufficient funds would be encouraged to retire by a freeze as the difference between their CSRS pension and their net salary would be relatively small and the increase in the pension by staying would only be 2% per year. This does not apply to FERS people whose defined benefit plan is much smaller than the CSRS pension.-------------------Of course there are other reasons for staying such as job satisfaction, but that is an individual issue.

  • Pay Freeze and Retirement - 'Low Hanging Fruit'

A great deal of federal employees who work 'outside the beltway' make far less than the $150k much mentioned, lets cut or freeze and save money target. Like several of your com-mentors, I am retiring or was planning on retiring in 2014 but now my entire retirement is going to be reduced by what was an 'easy and low hanging fruit' target - freezing federal employee pay! Thank you, thanks a lot for a reward for a career of 30 years of dedicated service for far less than could have been made in the private sector, now reaching the pinnacle of a career only to be rewarded with less monies. This is extremely unfair to penalize the loyal and dedicated men and women who offered up a lifetime of service to our country. I have asked this question before here and of my representatives and congressional representatives - how about targeting those who make above the $150 per annual salary, those hired within the beltway for the last two years (many appointees) and our elected 'professional politicians to set the standard and take these cuts ? There are MANY ways to reduce federal spending, God knows our runaway system of bureaucracy of the last two years has spent untold numbers of our tax dollars but to select the 'low hanging fruit' or 'easy target' of all federal employees is undeniably wrong! The cost savings are over-inflated only minuscule compared to the numbers of dollars wasted or fraudulently spent during the last six years. Now, your comments ? I am an American, a Texan, a veteran, christian and I vote! I will do all I can to support this country but to be the target to support misspent and unjustified cuts and freezes is WRONG !
