  • Federal worker furlough
    PaddyM
If memory serves..President Franklin Roosevelt had all federal employees take a 10 % pay cut during World War II. Yep the government was much smaller then, but, sacrifice comes in many forms.

  • Who pays my bills?
    gleewhite
i understand the reasons they do the furloughs, but since two weeks being unpaid is quite a chunk from my monthly pay (and i'm only a GS-6 living in the DC area), who will make sure my mortgage and car and insurance, and regular bills get paid for the month? I already live on rice and beans so I can pay down debts. I'm just worried that while this will save taxpayers a lot - it will hurt some of us that make less than $40,000 a year.
