  • Wll fed hiring reform affect veterans?
    Been There
Federal Agencies having been using FCIP to do routine entry-level hiring for years with the knowledge and support of OPM. OPM has no desire to stop the use of FCIP. Members of Congress know Veterans are being short changed under FCIP. When the union goes to members of the House Veteran's Affairs Committee and no action is taken, it is a sad state of affairs. When the union goes to Durbin and Durbin's office is told by OPM that they won't stop Agencies from using FCIP even thought Veteran's are being denied the opportunity to apply for federal jobs, it is a sad state of affairs. Veterans can not exercise their preference rights when they have not applied for a federal job. Under FCIP jobs do not have to be publicly posted. Veterans don't even know the openings exist. Our elected officials ought to be ashamed of themselves for treating our Veterans this way.
