A new telework bill might make your wallet a little heavier. Republican Congressman Robert Whitman’s new bill would give you a yearly tax credit worth up to $1,000, if you qualify. Congressman Wittman says the bill is part of a national effort to encourage agencies, organizations and individuals to telework.The bill has bipartisan support from Democratic Congressman John Sarbanes.
A bill introduced last week would end pensions for some new federal employees. Republican Senator Richard Burr’s idea would end the defined benefit pension portion of the Federal Employee Retirement System. It would apply only to workers hired after 2012.Senator Burr says the current setup is too expensive … and he wants to make federal benefits more like the private sector.
Northrop Grumman has won a contract that could make it safer for your agency to share information. It’s a follow-on for the Enterprise Networked Services Support task order, which many agencies use to share information securely. Homeland Security runs the project. As part of the contract, Northrop will modernize classified IT services for DHS. The company has been working with the system since 2004.
