  • The president’s budget request includes a Pentagon plan to save nearly $80 billion in the next several years. The blueprint would provide nearly $730 billion for overall defense spending.   • President Obama’s three point seven trillion dollar 20-12 budget request would freeze non-security discretionary spending for five years. The White house says it will help put the government on a more sustainable spending path. Jacob Lew is the Director of the Office of Management and Budget.
