Email scammers target IRS return info
The IRS says it would never reach out to taxpayers via email. So if you receive and email from the IRS it\'s a fake.
The email scammers are warning users of discrepancies on their income tax returns. The cyber crooks then requests users to sent their personal information via fax to a toll free number.
Krebs on Security reports the scammers are then using that personal information to re-direct rebate checks to a new address.
The IRS says it would never reach out to taxpayers via email. So if you receive and email from the IRS it’s a fake.
