The National Institute of Standards and Technology is launching a new phase in a competition to secure government documents. NIST has chosen the final five, in a project to create a new Secure Hash Algorithm. Government Computer News reports the winning entry will become part of a list of algorithms for authenticating government documents. Developers behind the entries are making final tweaks before the algorithms enter a year of public review.
