NASA awarded the fourth and final contract to revamp its technology infrastructure under the Information Technology Infrastructure Integration Program (I3P).

The space agency announced Monday The Portal Group Consulting received a five-year, $82.6 million deal under the Web Enterprise Services and Technology (WEST) contract.

NASA initially developed I3P to have five contracts, but canceled the Enterprise Data Center program in June.

“At this time, NASA has decided not to acquire access to a single enterprise data center (nor any additional data centers anywhere else, due to the existing inventory of data centers currently available,” NASA stated on the I3P homepage. “NASA has no need to acquire dedicated data center consolidation services because consolidation issues and actions are being executed by center personnel through their existing support contractors.”

NASA awarded the other three contracts over the past year for integrated communications services, enterprise applications service technologies and consolidated end-user services.

Under the latest deal, the Portal Group, a small business, will install and operate hardware, software and provide support services as well as develop or acquire and implement new services or enhancements to existing systems primarily at NASA headquarters in Washington.

NASA also wants the company provide support and services to agency websites, infrastructure support, bandwidth provisioning and security, search and collaboration services.

WEST was the first I3P contract to be issued, but the last to be awarded.

In all, NASA awarded about $4.2 billion in contracts under I3P over the past year.
