“Going green” used to be a cost driver; it was more expensive to go green – and stay green – than to do business the old-fashioned way. But that cost dynamic is changing, and the US Postal Service is taking advantage of it.

The Postal Service is saving energy and money by using virtualization to maximize their hardware investments. They’re cutting the number – and cost – of printers, and instituting recycling programs for paper and printing consumables. And they’re building energy efficiency into their workstations.

Mike Goldman, an IT portfolio manager at the US Postal Service, shared the details of how USPS’s “green movement” is both environmentally and financially green.
