Most federal employees that win awards have been in government for a long time, and their awards are tied to years and years of service. The Presidential Early Career Award for Scientists and Engineers recognizes young professionals at the beginnings of their independent research careers.

Dr. Gayle Hagler leads research in major developments that measure and map air pollutant emissions. Hagler is an Environmental Engineer for the National Risk Management Laboratory. She’s among the latest group of Presidential Early Career Award winners.
