The American Small Business Coalition is hosting its annual holiday bash on Nov. 30. But this isn’t just any holiday party. This is a chance for the business and federal sectors to get together for a little fun, while helping a good cause.

Guy Timberlake, chief visionary officer and co-founder of The American Small Business Coalition, spoke to Federal Drive with Tom Temin and Amy Morris Monday morning about what people can expect at the holiday bash. Temin and Morris will be working the bar at the bash, raking in tips for charity.

“The bash is something that has evolved over the years,” Timberlake said, “that started off mainly as maybe our company party and a way to raise some money for a good cause.”

Three years ago, the ASBC settled on the American Freedom Foundation as the charity it would support at its annual holiday bash. Co-founded by retired Sgt. Maj. Jack Tilley and Ted Hacker, the foundation acts something like a United Way for military charities, helping to support 30 organizations.

“The bash itself just became a great way for us to get together folks from government and industry and just have a great time and welcome the holidays in,” Timberlake said.

In 2010, the holiday bash raised just under $8,000. This year, ASBC has set a goal of raising $10,000 at the bash.

“We’ve got over 35 sponsors supporting this,” Timberlake. “We have 20 companies that donated tickets. We’re actually working with the Wounded Warrior regiment at Quantico and bringing in some Wounded Warriors who are either going to be making the transition back into the private sector or back to their units. And they’re going to be coming as our guests this year.”

Those interested in purchasing tickets can do so through Saturday at www.theasbc.org/charitybash/.
