The nation’s top intelligence officer has deemed the cloud safe enough for sharing classified information.

NextGov reported that Gen. Keith Alexander, who runs the National Security Agency, endorsed the idea of using a cloud computing facility to share cybersecurity information with the private sector.

The Pentagon is inviting contractors to join an information sharing environment. Alexander has said all of the military’s 15,000 networks would eventually move to the cloud.
