New contracts to help agencies buy cloud computing services are popping up all over government.

Larry Allen, the president of Allen Federal and the former president of the Coalition for Government Procurement, joined In Depth with Francis Rose to discuss what these new contracts could mean for federal agencies — and why there are so many.

According to a column Allen penned for Federal Computer Week, some major federal players — the Office of Management and Budget, the General Services Administration, the Homeland Security Department and the Defense Department — are looking to create new contracts to simply the process for agencies seeking to buy cloud services.

Allen addressed the sentiment in government and the private sector concerning these new cloud computing contracts as well as the benefits and drawbacks to setting up yet more IT contracts.
