#3 DoD Identifies Marine Casualty

The Department of Defense announced today the death of a Marine who was supporting Operation Enduring Freedom. Lance Cpl. Christopher L. Camero, 19, of Kailua Kona, Hawaii, died July 15 of wounds suffered July 6 while conducting combat operations in Helmand province, Afghanistan. He was assigned to 3rd Battalion, 4th Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division, I Marine Expeditionary Force, Twentynine Palms, Calif.

The acquisition workforce has long been the victim and scapegoat for all that is wrong with federal procurement. Dan Gordon, however, said that is starting to change. The administrator of the Office of Federal Procurement Policy said agency contracting officers, program managers and others are starting to show signs of morale and process improvements.
