The Air Force lifted a suspension on Booz Allen Hamilton’s office in San Antonio, Texas, after the contractor took responsibility for the improper disclosure of sensitive information on a pending contract, the company said in a release Friday.

The Air Force had suspended and recommended the company for debarment after retired Air Force Lt. Col. Joselito Meneses brought an external hard-drive containing sensitive information with him on his first day of work at Booz Allen in April 2011 — a violation of Federal Acquisition Regulations.

Meneses had previously served as the deputy chief of the Information Technology Division in the Air Force Medical Support Agency surgeon general’s office and was privy to non-public information about the service’s bids and proposals.

His supervisors at Booz Allen had failed to report the disclosure of the information, and Meneses continued to be involved in efforts to compete for the follow-on contract.

In its memo recommending debarment, the Air Force said the conduct raised concerns about “the adequacy of BAH San Antonio’s ethics and compliance program, including the training provided to its personnel.”

The suspension went into effect Feb. 7 and ended on Friday after the Air Force and Booz Allen reached an agreement, according to a company release. Under the terms of the three-year agreement, Booz Allen must file quarterly reports with the Air Force about how the company is implementing “remedial measures.”

“Booz Allen accepts responsibility for that incident and related matters and agrees to implement firm-wide enhancements to its ethics and compliance program, including future improvements identified by external advisors, to significantly mitigate the possibility of a re-occurrence of such issues,” according to the company release.

Booz Allen also said the suspension had not impacted its existing contracts with the government.
