Defense Health Agency awards electronic health records contract at DoD

The Defense Health Agency awards a $71 million bridge contract to support electronic health records at the DoD. The contract goes to the company Leidos, which was previously known as the Science Applications International Corporation. The contract covers EHR management for the next eleven months. DHA says Leidos has the operational infrastructure and knowledge required to meet department’s EHR standards. The contract also covers the Armed Forces Health Longitudinal Technology Application. Nextgov reports the DoD plans to spend one and half billion dollars to procure a new commercial EHR system from fiscal 2017-2019. The program will be deployed in phases, starting with a test run at Fort Lewis in Washington.
